Foreign Card Usage
These guidelines explain how Pulsecode Technology supports overseas card acceptance for merchants. Follow the recommendations below to deliver a seamless and compliant experience for your international customers.
Overview
- Pulsecode enables merchants to accept international Visa, Mastercard, and AMEX cards through vetted acquiring partners.
- Foreign card transactions may be subject to additional verification, currency conversion, and compliance checks.
- The guidelines below outline how to prepare your business and customers for smooth cross-border card usage.
Merchant Acceptance Requirements
Before enabling foreign card acceptance, ensure your operational processes meet the following standards:
- Provide accurate business information, product descriptions, and refund policies during onboarding.
- Enable 3-D Secure 2 authentication for all foreign card transactions to reduce fraud and improve approval rates.
- Clearly display prices in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and communicate any currency conversion that may occur on the customer’s issuing bank statement.
Risk Management & Chargebacks
- Risk engines analyse device, location, and spending patterns to flag high-risk transactions in real time.
- Manual review queues are available for transactions that require human verification before capture.
- Chargeback alerts and evidence templates help you respond quickly to disputes initiated by overseas cardholders.
Operational Best Practices
- Collect supporting details (customer contact, order information, delivery address) for every foreign card order.
- Respond to chargeback requests within the specified timeframe, typically seven (7) calendar days.
- Offer clear shipping timelines, customer support availability, and refund instructions to build trust with international buyers.
Guidance for International Customers
- International customers should ensure their card is enabled for overseas transactions and online purchases.
- Foreign card orders may appear in the issuing bank’s currency after conversion from MYR.
- Customers can contact their bank or Pulsecode support if a transaction is declined or appears unfamiliar.
